StatSoft MultiStreamTM for Power Industries

StatSoft MultiStream is a solution package for identifying and implementing effective strategies for advanced multivariate process monitoring and control. StatSoft MultiStream was designed for process industries in general, but is particularly well suited to help power generation facilities leverage the multivariate and predictive process control data collected into their existing specialized process data bases for actionable advisory systems.

The Problem

Practically all modern power plants are entirely automated, with hundreds, thousands, or even tens of thousands of parameters being recorded every minute or less into dedicated historical databases. However, up to now, there was no comprehensive analytic, monitoring, and reporting strategy and solution to leverage the huge amount of data for linking the data to key performance and quality indicators, for effective process monitoring and optimization.

StatSoft MultiStream Solution

StatSoft MultiStream is the culmination of StatSoft's 20+ years of experience with the implementation of basic and advanced data analysis and quality/process control, as well as data mining algorithms in various process manufacturing environments.

StatSoft MultiStream is a complete enterprise system built on a robust, advanced client-server (and fully web-enabled) architecture; it offers central administration and management of deployment of models, and cutting edge root-cause analysis and predictive data mining technology; and its analytics are seamlessly integrated with a built-in document management system. While other solutions may provide simple or multivariate control charting or (more recently) neural networks-based control schemes, only StatSoft MultiStream provides the toolset and capabilities to identify and implement methods to tackle all typical problems that need to be solved in complex modern and mostly automated power generation facilities; including
  • Automated (nonlinear) root cause analysis and feature selection for thousands of parameters to clearly identify which ones are the most likely responsible for process problems

  • Automated and interactive commonality analysis to identify parameters and processes that shifted or moved from normal operations during particular time intervals

  • Advanced linear and nonlinear (e.g., SVM, recursive partitioning, neural nets) models for creating sensitive multivariate control schemes and work flows to identify multivariate shifts and drifts early, before they cause problems

  • Advanced data mining algorithms for predicting and optimizing key performance and quality indicators. There is no other dedicated solution that combines the most advanced analytic methodologies to identify clear and actionable results with the know-how, software architecture, and training and support to significantly improve your control over complex automated processes.

How Will StatSoft MultiStream Benefit Your Business?

Instead of:
  • Using simple ad-hoc and/or post-hoc reporting on individual data streams, or simple prediction models

  • Speculating on what numbers or data are important and driving your most important process quality indicators (emissions, efficiency)

  • Identifying trends in your multivariate and complex processes after problems are obvious, forcing expensive unscheduled maintenance that interrupts your operations

  • Effectively wasting most of the data that you are collecting and storing
You will have an automated system that:
  • Tracks hundreds of data streams simultaneously

  • Delivers simple summaries relevant to critical process parameters and outcomes via efficient and simple dashboards and drill-down workflows

  • Delivers standard and customized analytic workflows for root cause analysis, leveraging cutting-edge data analysis and data mining technologies

  • Warns of (predicted) problems and equipment failures before they occur (predictive alarming), thus avoiding costly shut-downs and unscheduled maintenance

  • Watches "everything" that impacts your process performance in real time
Therefore, you will leverage all data available to you for continuously monitoring and improving all processes and important quality parameters, simultaneously and in real time.
